This sounds like a swell show. "Art inspired by the written word...."

Cabin in the Sky
Here's the trailer to a neat little fantasy film, CABIN IN THE SKY (1943).

More widely known for its place in the pantheon of African-American cinema (and as director Vincente Minelli's first film), its fantastical contents are not negligible.
And those "fantastic" contents include the amazingly sexy Lena Horne.

I couldn't find a clip of her singing any of her numbers from CABIN, but here she is singing "Stormy Weather" from PANAMA HATTIE (1942).

Members of the Deanna Durbin Fan Club have permission to add Lena Horne to their wall of pinups.

The Opposing View
A great piece from Ron Charles, the insightful Washington Post Book World editor — this is reprinted from BW. I missed it while I was away, so many thanks to Bill Sheehan for flagging it to me.
