Sixties Novels, Part 40
[Click and make big]
TO WALK THE LINE, David Quammen, Knopf, 1970
Not too much to say about this book that isn't said better by the blurb from my 1972 paperback edition:

Quammen is a well-known author these days:

But note how neatly his career is bifurcated, between early fiction and later non-fiction. Plainly, he saw that novel-writing was a mug's game and got out when he hit it big with his nature writing.
