BUTTERFLY (IN OVER-EXACTING MOOD): "That still won't do, Jaqueline. The parting is not absolutely in the centre even now."
EXHAUSTED MAID: "Zat ees soon put right. Madame has merely to keep her head slightly on one side."
This joke reminds me of so many along the lines of "walk this way" or the fellow who goes into a doctor's office and complains that raising his arm gives him a pain, whereupon the doc says, "Don't raise your arm."
Any time an artist can draw a fashionable young rich woman in her slip and a sexy French maid, he's got a guaranteed sale.
The signature here seems to be "D. L. Ghilchrist," I'm guessing, but I can't turn up anything on such an artist.
ADDENDUM: Some clever scrutiny of the signature and new sleuthing allows me to identify this artist as David L. Ghilchik (Romanian, 1892-1972).
