Ricard Powers art

[Click to em-Powers]

We've featured art from Wally Wood and Jack Gaughan recently. Here's a goodie from another of the great 20th-century cover-art geniuses, Richard Powers (no, not the fellow of the same name who's currently a literary novelist).

You can get a sense of how prolific Powers was from this no-frills checklist of his art:

This image is missing from the eye-popping Powers Compendium, accessible thru the Wikipedia entry, so I feel as if I'm restoring another historical brick to his reputation, which might be on slightly firmer ground than that of Gaughan and Wood. Still, he's hardly a household name any more.

Neither for that matter is author Harry Kurnitz, who nonetheless left us with the scripts for many enduring films.
