Dirty Harry Goes Senile.  I can't believe they're positioning this for an Oscar.

Proof that Frank Miller's gone round his twist,,,

I notice the excellent Swedish vampire flick Let The Right One In opens this week in the States--This is one you should definitely check out.  Not often is there an original vampire movie.  Don't wait for the ghastly remake.  And around Christmas, we'll get Waltz WIth Bashir, the Israeli animated film that's one of the best pictures I've seen this year.

It looks to be a particularly unappetizing Oscar season--there's not one movie I'm dying to see:  dramas about Catholic priests misbehaving and fucked-up marriages and Australian epics (this Nicole Kidman Joint, Australia, smells like a classic flop) and etc.  I hear Sean Penn's portrayal of Harvey Milk in Milk is very good and Kristin Scott Thomas is supposed to be awesome as an ex-con in I've Loved You So Long, but those films are out in October.  Maybe Gran Torino does have a chance.

Oh, well...
