I had a blog post all ready to go, all about how I really hate it when historical dramas misuse history and just make things up, and then I learned that Ferdinand I of Naples really did kill his enemies and embalm them and keep them around his castle. I’d thought that this couldn’t possibly be true because it seemed far too sensationalistic, and because if it had happened I was sure I would have heard of it. So I guess I’ll keep watching The Borgias on Sundays. (I couldn’t find anything that said old Ferdinand arranged his mummies in a tableau of the Last Supper, the way he did on the show, but who knows, maybe he did that too. And if not, well, the writers get some poetic license.)
